LONDON Irish legend Topsy Ojo and scrum half Scott Steele have given the club a boost by signing new contracts ahead of the Greene King IPA Championship season.

Ojo – who looks set regain his accolade as Exiles’ all-time most-capped player – will begin his 15th season as a senior player at the club.

The 32-year-old wing said: “I’m happy to have re-signed with the club and I’m looking forward to getting an excellent pre-season under my belt.

“Having to watch a large portion of last season from the sideline due to injury, and not being able to help my teammates, was incredibly frustrating, particularly as I’d started the season so well.

“I got myself back to fitness towards the end of the season and I’m feeling in good shape and 100% ready to tackle the Championship, which be extremely competitive this season.

“London Irish is a very special club and I still love being out on the pitch, so to be pulling on the green jersey again next season is fantastic.

“I’m looking forward to working with both Declan (Kidney) and Les (Kiss), who in their short time at the club have already made a huge impression.”

Meanwhile, Steele has made 95 appearances since joining from Leicester Tigers and will compete with Brendan McKibbin, Ben Meehan and Rory Brand for the starting shirt.

He said: “I’m delighted to have re-signed with London Irish, a club that gave me my first real opportunity to play top-flight rugby.

Kidney added: “I’m delighted Scott has re-signed with us and I’m looking forward to seeing him in action next season.”
