WINDSOR Dames recorded their biggest win of the season in South East West One after a 62-0 victory against a depleted Crowthorne side on Sunday.

Four tries from Gilly Thomas, two from Chloe Humphreys and further touchdowns by Molly Horler, Kayla Barreto, Ruby Cox, Cherelle Jameson, Ellie Barley and Jess O’Sullivan gave the Dames a comfortable win at Home Park. Jameson also booted a conversion.

The victory will go a long way to securing third position in the table and new coach Todd Skevington, who took over the side earlier this month, believes Windsor have made a statement to the rest of the league.

He told the Observer: “Crowthorne didn’t have a full side to bring but that’s not taking anything away from the work we did. It does spoil the contest a little and it’s nice to play against 15, but that didn’t effect our goals.

“We worked really hard and looked switched on. Our goal was to move the ball wide and we did it well with creativity from the backs.

“Molly was fantastic and our nine and 10 ran the game for us. Our forwards gave us a platform to play from and there was some great ball carrying from Chloe.

“We wanted to achieve and succeed and it’s good to take that into next year and set goals for what the girls want to do, which I’m guessing is to get promoted.

“We held strong with great tackles on our own line and that’s what building good team character is all about.”

Skevington added: “We’re enjoying ourselves in training and are putting that onto the pitch, adding a little bit of a fun factor.

“I didn’t think there were dejected before, just not playing in an enjoyable way, so we’ve worked on that in the last couple of weeks.”

Windsor bring the curtain down on their season with a visit to Home Park from second-from-bottom Witney this Sunday (2.30pm).

Skevington commented: “We wanted to consolidate third position and want to make a statement this weekend for teams to stand up and take notice of us next season.

“There are things we’re still working on, like our processes and team patterns, to make a bit of a step up in mind for next year.

“Hopefully one more great display would send out a positive word to attract more players and improve the squad for next season.”
