BRACKNELL Cavaliers go into the festive break in top spot in the Premier Division thanks to a 1-0 win at FC Meta, writes Nick Carpenter.
The division’s top two sides struggled to shine in difficult playing conditions.
But an excellent strike from Cavs’ right-back Scott Graham from the edge of the box late in the first half gave Meta keeper Byron Duncan no chance.
Cavaliers edged the first half, but Meta were dominant in the second and applied a lot of pressure particularly towards the end.
But they failed to find an equaliser as Cavs hels on for the points.
A brace a piece from Gareth Ainsworth and Jamie Currie saw Finchampstead Sunday move up to joint third with a 4-3 home win over Binfield Club Athletic, Jake White (2) and Tom Williams replied for BCA.
FC Fernhill trounced Braybrooke Athletic 12-0 and Bracknell Celtic ran out 5-0 winners at home to Raglan.
Division One
CROWTHORNE Inn remain top without playing last weekend, but second-placed Finchampstead Sunday Reserves missed the opportunity to close the gap as they slipped up 3-1 at home to Winkfield. Marc Campbell (2) and Adam Avis scored for Winks.
Bracknell Forest won 4-0 at home to Hurricanes and Wokingham & Emmbrook TMW defeated Sandhurst FFC 4-3 to go fourth in the table.
3M lost 6-0 at home to Whitegrove and, after last weekend’s euphoric cup victory, AFC Crowthorne couldn’t field a Sunday side against Intercity FC who were awarded a walkover.
Division Two
Binfield Royals closed the gap at the top of Division Two with a 6-1 home win against Warfield United, but Berkshire All Stars remain top and three points clear.
Berks County stay third after a 2-2 draw at home to Hope & Anchor, while Bracknell Athletic beat Winnersh Town 3-1 and Club 8 won 5-2 at Berkshire United.
Division Three
Newcomers Ashridge Park U21s continue to enjoy their first season in the league and remain top thanks to a 5-1 victory against Bracknell Falcons.
Bearwood Wanderers are in second spot following their 5-3 victory against AFC Crowthorne Reserves.
Bracknell Titans beat Winnersh Rangers 3-2 and FC Harmanswater lost 2-0 at Bracknell Cavaliers U21s.
