Binfield captain Sean Ennis won the toss and chose to bat, but he was quickly dismissed by Mark Shepherd to leave the visitors 26-1.

Steve Carson (35) was next to depart as he fell victim to the same bowler, but useful contributions throughout the middle order helped keep Binfield ticking along.

However Denham captain Faisal Mahmood and Ricky Patel grabbed two wickets apiece to set Binfield back, with the game in the balance as they stood on 146-6.

A crucial seventh wicket stand of 77 between James Wright (49) and Adam Carson (35*) proved pivotal until it was finally ended by Mahmood (3-41), and Binfield ended their 52 overs on 229-8.

Sykes snared two early wickets by removing Ricky Bhatt and Iqbal Shokhat cheaply to leave the hosts in trouble on 8-2.

However Bobby Rai (34) shared a half century stand with opener Dave Tang until the former was caught by Steve Carson off the bowling of Sykes.

The introduction of Matt Hayman resulted in the end of Tang’s gritty knock, trapped leg before, and when Sykes clean bowled Waqar Malik and Dave Maynard, Denham had slipped into disarray on 73-6.

There was no let up from title-chasing Binfield as Sykes (7-30) continued his devastating burst, and despite some late resistance from Shepherd, Hayman (3-32) bowled the number 10 to complete the rout with the hosts shot out for just 95.

Binfield sit eight points clear of Taplow but the second-placed side have a game in hand, which they play against basement boys Amersham Hill on Saturday when the league leaders have a bye week.

In Division Three, Binfield 2nds had a bye week this past Saturday.
