The Boars were never able to get going with the bat - a similar story to the previous week’s loss to lowly Kidmore End - and were bowled out for a wholly inadequate 151, with James Rendell (5-35) their chief destroyer.

And Eversley were for once unable to drag things back with their bowling as Beaconsfield cruised to victory in 37 overs on the back of an unbeaten 54 from Chris Thomas.

The result leaves the Boars 14 points behind new leaders Kew, and they face a crucial visit to second placed Datchet - who sit six points above them - on Saturday, in a game which is likely to end the championship dreams of at least one of the sides.

Eversley 2nds remain worryingly close to the Division 3a relegation zone after they suffered a seven wicket thrashing at the hands of fellow strugglers Purley-on-Thames.

The Boars chose to bat after winning the toss and made a fast start until two wickets from Caleb Maycock pinned them back.

The Potters’ spin twins Patrick Allen (6-28) and Paul Reber then got to work and Eversley could find no answer to their consistency, eventually crumbling to 121 all out in 49.4 overs.

The hosts also made a solid start to their reply but suffered a double setback when Allen and George Wheeler were dismissed in the same over.

However Reber (54*) continued his fine all round performance to lead his side to victory.

Eversley remain in fifth place but are just 14 points clear of Purley who occupy the second relegation spot.

The Boars host another team desperate to beat the drop - Newbury - on Saturday.

Kevin Manning made 43 for Eversley 3rds but his efforts proved to no avail as his side was thrashed by Thatcham Town 3rds in Division 6b.

The number three made almost half his sides’ runs as they were skittled for just 95 in the face of a fine spell from Nathan Redmond (5-28).

And Thatcham had no trouble chasing the score down as they raced to victory in just 16.1 overs, with opener Chris Rochfort (57*) anchoring their chase to perfection.

Mark Thomson claimed the solitary wicket for Eversley when he bowled Nick Voller for 15.

Eversley 4ths rounded off a miserable day for the club as they were smashed by 118 runs in their Division 8a derby with Yateley 3rds.

An opening stand of 133 between Paul Nicholls (81) and Jason Soames (106*) put Yateley in command from the outset, and they eventually declared on an imposing 234-2 from just 36 overs.

The Boars reply never got going and it fell to captain Scott Sharp (24) - batting at number nine - to top score as they were rolled over for 116.
