Bracknell currently sit in third place in National League Three South West and have just come off a hard-fought 29-24 victory over Old Centralians on Saturday.

A shaky first-half performance from Bracknell meant that Greenslade-Jones had a few choice words for his players at the break.

And he was overjoyed with the character his side showed to pull through a tough match, despite not being anywhere near their best.

With just three games remaining in the season Bracknell are targeting a 15-point maximum haul to help their promotion quest as they fight Redingensians for second place and a play-off spot.

But the head coach believes their battling victory was a wake-up call for his side and expects a major reaction in their next match against Newton Abbot at Lily Hill Park this Saturday (3pm ko).

“We are really pleased to have come through that match because it could have been a bit of a banana skin,” said Greensalde-Jones.

“They put up a really good fight and gave us a hell of a test. Now we’ve got three games left and we will be looking to win them all.

“We want to get 15 points from the last three games and try and finish in that second place.

“I think the boys thought it was going to be an easy day on the weekend and in the first half they were second best.

“At half time I had to ask them if they really wanted to win the match. I just told them to sort themselves out because too many things were not working all at once.

“I was looking for a reaction from the guys after half time and to be fair to them they were much better.” While Greenslade-Jones admits he has drawn a line under his side’s unconvincing performance, he is determined not to let complacency play any part in the final set of matches.

“It turned out to be a much longer day than it should have been really, we could have made it all a little bit easier,” he said.

“There were too many people making too many errors and it just snowballed out of control.

“But they showed character and even though they hadn’t played well they managed to scrape a win. Sometimes you have a bad day and it’s important to respond in the right way.

“We all know what we need to do so there is no point in getting the hairdryer out for them.

“We are all adults and we all understand what is needed between now and the end of the season.” A Ben Yates brace helped Bracknell secure a bonus point victory over Old Patesians in the National League Three South West clash on Saturday.

On a sunny day in Gloucester, Bracknell fell behind early on when Rob Jones broke the line to score a converted try.

But the Berkshire outfit fought back before half-time with an unconverted George Milligan try and a Ben Nowak penalty which gave them an 8-7 lead at the break.

The hosts briefly regained the lead at the start of the second-half with a penalty kick of their own through Ollie Locke but, Bracknell fought back scoring a try in the corner through Ben Yates, with Nowak adding the difficult extras.

James Elliot responed for Old Pats, but soon after Kenny Barry and Yates crossed the whitewash for the visitors to seal victory.

Connor Gwilliam scored a late consolation try for the hosts but Bracknell held on to stay in the promotion mix.
