GARDENERS at an allotment in Wokingham can now answer the call of nature thanks to the installation of a waterless loo.
Following a donation from the Wokingham Horticultural Association (WHA) the rustic-style loo was installed at the Ormonde Road site by carpenters Quirky Huts and officially opened by the town mayor, Cllr Peter Lucey last Tuesday (January 23).
Featuring a tree branch loo roll holder, the facility can be accessed via an attractive new brick path built by an allotment holder.
Cllr Lucey said: “I was very pleased to open the loo which will be a real benefit to many people. It is a great example of Wokingham Horticultural Association and its members and the Town Council and allotment tenants working together for the common good.”
WHA Chair Lindsay Payne said: “Lindsay Payne, WHA Chair, said: “The loo is a welcome facility for all those toiling on their allotments. It will also enable WHA to expand the range of its activities at Ormonde Road.”
