BURGLARS were interrupted in the middle of a theft when the victims returned to their home.

Homeowners returned to their house on Nine Mile Ride, Wokingham, between 3.30pm and 7pm on January 24 to find their lights on in the house.

They walked in, and passed a man who immediately ran out of the front door.

The homeowners then heard noises upstairs, before two more men ran down the stairs and out of the back door.

Police believe the burglars smashed the patio door to break in and climbed over the garden fence to get into the garden.

It appears they went straight upstairs and jewellery boxes were found open, but nothing was taken due to the interruption.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: "If you see or hear anything suspicious ring the police on 101.

"If you see something happening to someone’s house and you think someone may still be there ring 999."

If you have any information relating to this incident, call police with reference number 80025146.
