THE winners of this year’s Sandhurst civic awards have been revealed.

Seven recipients have been rewarded for enriching the lives of local people and supporting local projects.

At a ceremony held at St Michael’s Church the ‘Magnificent Seven’ were presented with certificates recognising their achievements.

The hardworking volunteers recognised were Linda and David Hewlett for their contribution to the local youth group held in St George’s Church; Errol Hutchings, who has spent 30 years running the local cadets; fundraiser Ray Edwards who runs a charity which supports people who have lost limbs; Colleen Pidgeon, who leads Sandhurst Health Walking group; Aron Clarke, who runs a French conversation club; and Lydia Stonestreet, who has led Owlsmoor Brownies for more than 20 years.

Mayor of Sandhurst Town Council, Cllr Hazel Hill, said: “It was an honour and privilege to do the address for my Civic Service, based on the theme of love, combined with suitable reading, poems, hymns and music. Love is a simple word meaning so much in many different ways. It was a pleasure to present the civic awards to local people recognising their hard work in the community.”
