JOB vacancy rates in Reading are amongst the highest in the country, figures have revealed.

CV-Library has released new data showing Reading is one of the top three locations for job vacancies in the UK.

In the last year available jobs in Reading have increased by 19.2 per cent, only being beaten by Portsmouth and Glasgow, who scored 21.9 per cent and 20.8 per cent respectively.

Lee Biggins, founder of managing director of CV-Library said: “It’s fantastic to witness the job market growing at such an impressive rate, especially given that EY recently predicted Reading would be the UK’s fastest-growing city over the next three years.

“Employment growth in Reading is booming and it’s unsurprising; home to an exciting host of companies, it is a highly sought-after location for people looking for work. This is great news for local candidates looking to start out their careers, or change roles in the next few months.”

Reading also saw an increase in applications last month with a rise of 4.9 per cent, despite salaries dropping by 1.9 per cent the past year.

Biggins added Reading is one to watch in 2017 as businesses should be looking to tap into the talent pool available.

The research compared data for February 2016 with data from February 2017.
