A HOTEL firm which opened its new 93-bedroom building in Reading yesterday is seeking more locations in the area.

Travelodge opened its new £7m site in Winnersh Triangle business park in Berkshire Place, Winnersh, the first budget hotel in the estate.

The new hotel, which features a Bar Cafe, has been built on the former site of Microsoft's Head Quarters at Winnersh Triangle, and is the 15th Travelodge in Berkshire.

But the company aren't stopping there, as they continue to search for six more sites across the county.

“We have been looking for a prominent site in Winnersh for some time and we are delighted to open the first branded budget hotel at Winnersh Triangle," said Julia Rosamond, Travelodge Human Resource director.

"Berkshire is a key growth area for us and as part of our development strategy we are looking to open a further five hotels across the county and are looking for sites in: Ascot, Slough, Sandhurst, Reading, Windsor and Wokingham.”

The Mayor of Wokingham Councillor Parry Batth joined the Travelodge Directors and Will Lawrie, Asset Manager at Winnersh Triangle business park, to unveil the new hotel.

Mr Lawrie said he is thrilled to welcome Travelodge to the area, which will create 18 new jobs.

"It’s a fantastic new addition to the business community and the hotel facilities are already proving popular," said Will.

“As well as creating more new jobs here, Travelodge is making it easier to visit to do business. It has added to our existing amenities which, along with our excellent connections, are making Winnersh Triangle, are making Winnersh Triangle a go-to destination for a wide range of companies.”

The hotel has got off to a flying start and we are booked up for the summer. Our corporate customer base is growing at pace and we have already become a firm favourite for local businesses.”
