A MAYOR has hosted an event to get more younger people into work, while raising awareness for national apprenticeship week.

Bracknell Forest mayor Tina McKenzie-Boyle hosted the event at Easthampstead Park, bringing schools and local businesses together to discuss potential links and future job opportunities for students.

The event featured an appearance from Dr Phillip Lee, MP for Bracknell, as well as Campbell Christie, the principal of Bracknell and Wokingham College.

Representatives from a host of local businesses attended the event, including Waitrose, Fujitsu, Redwood Technologies, Avocor, and learning to work.

Multiple local councillors also attended the event.

The mayor, Cllr Tina McKenzie-Boyle said: “This was a great opportunity for business leaders and educators in Bracknell to collaborate in creating more opportunities for our school leavers through apprenticeship schemes. 

"This event really shows that Bracknell Forest is a great place to live, work and study and I want to thank everyone who attended.”

National apprenticeship week, runs from March 5 to 9.
