THE generosity of residents helped to feed nearly 3,000 people who have been struggling to make ends meet.

That’s the message from Bracknell’s Foodbank, which last year alone distributed food and toiletries which had been donated by Bracknell residents to 2,926 people, up an estimated 300 on the previous year.

According to data collected by the foodbank, 1,150 children made use of its services last year, in addition to 1,776 adults.

Foodbank manager, Claire Mather, said: “We continue to be blown away by the generosity of the people of Bracknell, we recently received more than 52 tonnes of food which was collected by school harvest festivals, supermarket collections and through our Christmas appeal.

“A big thank you to everyone who has donated, and to our volunteers who give up their time to help sort through all of the donations as well.
“People are always so generous donating food and toiletries, but we are also very grateful for any financial donations as well so we can keep our facility going.”
