THOUSANDS of members of the public are to be personally invited to the Royal Wedding by the new couple.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are to send out 2,640 invitations to members of the public to attend their wedding in Windsor Castle, it was announced this morning.

The invitations will include 1,200 young people who have had a positive impact on their local communities, who are to be selected by the nations Lord Lieutenants.

Additionally, another 200 people will be invited from charitable organisations that the new couple have close ties to.

Invitations will also be extended to 100 pupils from the local St George's School, from charities and organisations that the couple have a close association with.

100 pupils from the local Royal School, beside the Great Park, and St George's school, in Windsor Castle, will also be invited to attend.

Finally, over 600 invitations will be sent out to Windsor Castle community members, and a further 530 will be sent to members of the Royal Households and Crown Estate.

All those invited will come to Windsor Castle to watch as the bride and groom - and their guests - arrive for the ceremony, and will be the first to witness the carriage procession as it departs the castle.
