STUDENTS from an Ascot school have worked their way to places at the top universities in the country.

This year, a record-breaking eight students from The Charters School in Sunningdale, Ascot, have earned places at the 'Oxbridge' universities, generally considered to be the best in the country.

Three students will be reading at Cambridge University, with a further five at Oxford.

The school has a strong link with Brasenose College, part of Oxford University, which runs workshops at the sixth form.

Kitty Boxall who is due to start a three year Law degree at Trinity College, Oxford later this month said, “I can’t wait to begin my studies at Oxford. It’s such a prestigious university and I plan to really enjoy my time there.”

Ms Olimpia Morrison, Director of Sixth Form said "This summer we had a 99% pass rate, 31% of entries were graded A* or A, 58% A* to B and 80% A* to C.

"The excellent grades achieved have resulted in a very large number of our students being accepted into their first choice university and a significant number are going on to Russell Group universities.

"We’re really looking forward to welcoming Year 11 students to our Sixth Form Open Evening on 19 October and have a lot to be excited about."
