Police have confirmed that an investigation that was underway yesterday has now ceased after what was previously thought to be a bomb has now been identified as a firework.
Thames Valley Police rushed to the scene of an incident in Wargrave after a suspicious item was located on Sunday, September 22.
Several officers in army uniforms were also seen at the scene.
As a precaution, police put a 100-metre cordon in place surrounding the scene of the incident.
The cordons that were in place in Highfield Park, Wargrave, have now been lifted.
The item discovered was a large "industrial-sized" firework. The cordons were in place as a precaution while we ascertained what this was.
A spokesperson for the police said "Public safety was paramount. We are aware of the disruption this has caused, and we are grateful to everyone for their patience and understanding while this was being investigated."
