The following cases were heard at Reading or Slough Magistrates' Courts.

APRIL '24

FRANCESCA DE SOUZA, 40, of Chatteris Way, Lower Earley, convicted of keeping a motor vehicle without insurance on January 6, 2023. Must pay a £146 fine, a £58 victim surcharge and £100 in court costs.

EARL ANGELL, 44, of Wokingham Road, Reading. Convicted of theft of a wallet from another person at Slough on January 22, 2024. Also convicted of committing fraud by false representation on February 11, 2024. Also convicted of failing to surrender to police when required on March 20, 2024. Jailed for 20 weeks.

MARIA KASTROUNI, 42, of South Lake Crescent, Woodley, convicted of committing fraud by false representation by using another person’s bank card at Reading on June 29, 2023. Also convicted of theft by finding after stealing a purse on June 29, 2023. Jailed for eight weeks, suspended for 12 months. Must complete up to 25 days of rehabilitation activities. Must also pay £211 in compensation.

JAMES DAVIES, 47, of Coniston Drive, Tilehurst, convicted of failing to provide a specimen for analysis when requested by the police at Burghfield on September 10, 2023. Also convicted of failing to cooperate with a preliminary test at Burghfield on September 10, 2023. Disqualified from driving for 30 weeks. Also given a 12-month community order, including a 200-hour unpaid work requirement. Must pay £775 in court costs and a £114 victim surcharge.

BRANDON TAPLIN, 25, of Mitford Close, Reading, convicted of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour in Gun Street, Reading, on March 3, 2024. Must pay a £320 fine, £85 in court costs and a £128 victim surcharge.

SULTAN AHMED, 35, of Wellington Street, Slough, convicted of harassment without violence at Slough on February 21, 2024. Also convicted of possessing cannabis at Aylesbury on March 28, 2024. Given a conditional discharge for 12 months. Also given a restraining order not to contact a named other. Must also pay a £26 victim surcharge.

CLARE WALKER, 50, of Penzance Spur, Slough, convicted of racially or religiously aggravated common assault on May 16, 2023. Also convicted of using racially or religiously aggravated language on the same date. Also convicted of the same offence on the same date. Community order made, including a six-month drug rehabilitation requirement. Must also pay a £129 fine.

STEVEN DAVIES, 49, of Tamarisk Way, Slough, convicted of criminal damage at Maidenhead police station on March 16, 2024, after damaging a custody phone valued at £60. Must pay £60 in compensation and a £40 fine.

PETER SMITH, 53, of Broadmoor Hospital, Crowthorne, convicted of racially or religiously aggravated common assault in Crowthorne on September 23, 2023. Also convicted of assault by beating an emergency worker – namely a healthcare facilitator – on September 23, 2023. Must pay £100 in compensation.

LEWIS FOSTER-WATTS, 28, of Waterloo Road, Wokingham, convicted of drug-driving in Bridge Road, Maidenhead, on October 1, 2023. Traces of a cocaine byproduct were detected in his system. Disqualified from driving for 12 months. Must pay a £346 fine, £85 in court costs and a £138 victim surcharge.

JAMES HAZARD, 41, of Merryhill Road, Bracknell. Convicted of stealing £67 of food from Marks and Spencer in Bracknell on March 31, 2024. Also convicted of breaching a criminal behaviour order after attending a Marks and Spencer branch they were prohibited from entering on March 31, 2024. Also convicted of the same offence on March 31, 2024. Also convicted of theft from a shop after stealing £36 of pizzas and alcohol from Marks and Spencer in Bracknell on March 31, 2024.  Jailed for 26 weeks.

SHANE KING, 30, of Marbull Way, Warfield, convicted of failing to provide a specimen for the police when requested at Bracknell on March 7, 2024. Also convicted of driving without third-party insurance at Bracknell on the same day. Also convicted of driving while disqualified at Bracknell on the same day. Also convicted of possessing a quantity of cocaine at Bracknell on the same day. Jailed for 20 weeks. Disqualified from driving for 12 months. Fined £200. Licence endorsed.

IFZAN ISHTIAQ, 35, of Glebe Gardens, Sonning, convicted of assault by beating at Reading on March 25, 2024. Jailed for 12 weeks. Must pay £300 in compensation. Also given a restraining order not to contact a named other.

IVAN MUNTIENU, 39, of Moreton Way, Slough, convicted of drug-driving in Bath Road, Slough, on May 31, 2023. Traces of a cocaine byproduct were detected in his system. Disqualified from driving for 14 months. Community order made for 12 months, including a 15-day rehabilitation activity requirement. Must pay £85 in court costs and a £114 victim surcharge.
