High Wycombe’s Dolphin Eye pub is to get a new entertainment and billiards room if a new planning application is approved.

The Indian and Nepalese restaurant and boozer at 56 Totteridge Lane has asked Buckinghamshire Council for permission for the plans.

The pub has proposed to convert the existing coach house and storage area to accommodate the proposed new entertainment space.

External changes, including fitting new doors and windows are also proposed, but will ‘not affect the character and appearance of the area, according to the application’.

The Dolphin’s design statement reads: “All materials to match existing building. The billiards room is a unique, multi-purpose space, where our antique wooden meeting table unveils a hidden gem as this can be transformed into a fully-fledged billiards table.”

The applicant says that the proposed materials used will match the colour and style of the existing building and will therefore be in keeping with the character of the original site.

The application adds: “The entertainment hall would be to the front elevation of the property and constructed in matching materials.

“Due its positioning within an existing the proposal would not be highly visible within the conservation area.

“As such it is considered that there would be no undue harm to the character and appearance of the conservation area.”

The Dolphin is a ‘traditional pub’ located on the edge of Kingswood Park, offering views over the green space.
