Thames Valley Police have extended a Section 60 Stop and Search order after groups of people were caught using knives in incidents across Sandhurst.
The order was originally put in place on Saturday, April 13 following a ‘disturbance’ in the areas of Owlsmoor and College Town on April 12.
This gave police enhanced powers to stop and search anyone in a particular area. The orders are used by police when there is a fear of further violence within an area.
The order covers the A3095 Rackstraw Road, A321 Marshall Road, Yorktown Road, College Road and the perimeter of the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst.
Police have stated that the extension is due to ‘ongoing violent incidents between groups of people’. These groups have reportedly been using knives and other weapons.
A spokesperson for Thames Valey Police said: “The order will be in place for 24 hours and gives officers more powers to stop and search people.
“It will cover the area shown on the map and follows a previous order over the weekend.
“Anyone with concerns or questions should approach our officers in the area or call 101.”
