Developers want to add two extra storeys to a town centre office building so they can build 26 flats, under plans submitted to Bracknell Forest Council. But one neighbour fears the plans would overshadow her own home.

Property company Savills has applied to make One The Braccans – an office building overlooking the Eastern Road Roundabout – five storeys high. But one resident of an already converted office building next door says this would block her light.

in a comment that has since been withdrawn, the resident said: “The extension to the roof will block the sunlight coming into my flat.”

The resident said Savills had ‘neglected to recognise our building, The Braccans, and how dark our properties directly next door will become and how much the construction noise will affect daily life.'

But a planning statement submitted by Savills says the extension ‘will not cause any issues for residents in the surrounding area’ and that the building will only increase height by 2.6 metres.

The statement says: “Separation distances ensure the increased height of the building (which is minor) would not lead to loss of daylight/sunlight to neighbouring properties.”

Planning officers are still considering the application.

Update: The resident's comments were withdrawn on Tuesday, April 4 five days after this article was published.
