An expansion for Beaverbrooks, and a 3G pitch are in this week’s roundup of planning applications and decisions at Bracknell Forest and Wokingham Borough councils

Bracknell Forest: Beaverbrooks (24/00047/FUL)

Beaverbrooks in The Lexicon is allowed expand into the shop left empty by Yankee Candle, after plans were approved by Bracknell Forest Council.

The jeweller on The Avenue was granted planning permission for a refurbishment, which includes expanding into the shop next door. This was last occupied by Yankee Candle, which closed on January 19 this year.

Bracknell Forest: Hindu temple (23/00652/LB)

The Sri Venkateswara Temple and Cultural Centre has been given permission to carry out internal renovations at Whynscar House on Grenville Place as part of its conversion to a Hindu temple.

Bracknell Forest Council first granted permission for the building to be used as a place of worship in 2022. But as it is a listed building, further permission was needed for the renovation works.

A separate application to allow part of the building to be used as priest’s accommodation is still being considered.

Bracknell Forest: Ascot bungalow (24/00135/FUL)

Proposals to build two new houses in Ascot have been submitted to Bracknell Forest Council.

Land developer Landmark Group wants permission to demolish a three bedroom detached bungalow at 47 Fernbank Road and replace it with a pair of semi-detached, two-storey houses with rooms in the lofts.

Wokingham Borough: 3G pitch (240213)

A 3G pitch at Woodford Park Leisure Centre is allowed to stay open until later in the middle of the week after permission was granted by Wokingham Borough Council.

Opening hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays were previously limited to 8am-9pm under conditions imposed when planning permission to build the pitch in 2015.

But the leisure centre said that an increase in the number of teams and clubs wanting to use the pitch meant it needed to extend its opening hours, and Wokingham Borough Council agreed to amend the condition.

The pitch can now open from 8am-9pm on Mondays, Fridays, weekends and public holidays and, 8am-9:30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Wokingham Borough: House in Twyford (240255)

Permission has been granted to build a new two-storey house on Longfield Road in Twyford.

Plans are for the house to be built at the corner of the junction with Hilltop Road, on the site currently occupied by 2 Longfield Road.
