A man has been jailed for a year after riding a motorcycle dangerously in Wokingham.

Jamie Drablow, 24, of Farnborough, appeared before Reading Crown Court today (March 7) for sentencing.

He was being sentenced over an incident in Wokingham town centre on September 2 last year.

Drablow was arrested after riding a motorcycle at speed and on pavements, in a manner which prosecuting barrister Simren Singh said endangered the public.

Mr Singh said: "Mr Drablow was seen riding at police officers - and failing to stop when told to do so - riding down pavements before slowing down for members of the public who were present, performing wheelies ..."

He told Drablow: "You rode the wrong way down the road, ignoring warnings from the police - though you said you didn't hear them."

Drablow denies performing wheelies, but has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.

Ed Culver, speaking in Drablow's defence, said his client had "limited cognition," and told the court of his "impulsiveness."

The defendant has an extensive criminal history, with 10 convictions for 25 offences.

Mr Culver said: "Mr Drablow has a number of convictions for a young man, but he is someone who has not spent time in prison before. He has missed his daughter's birthday, his son's birthday, his Christmas with them."

Judge Sarah Campbell sentenced Drablow for the dangerous driving offence, and for an unrelated affray in Farnborough which occurred in May 2023.

Summarising the driving offence, the judge told Drablow: "You were riding a bike which didn't have any lights or registration plates."

She added: "You rode the wrong way down the road, ignoring warnings from the police - though you said you didn't hear them."

The defendant was jailed for a total of 12 months.
