A Bracknell marathoner has set her sights on completing the six major marathons across the globe after being diagnosed with an Ovarian tumor three years ago.

Danielle Speakman, 30, discovered that she had a rare form of cancer at the height of the Covid pandemic in September 2020.

After battling the illness, she has begun a journey to raise awareness for borderline tumors and other types of gynae cancers.

Danielle said: “There has not been a day gone by where I would give just anything to help someone not have to go through what I went through.

“Turning that very dark period of my life into something positive by raising awareness for borderline tumors and other types of gynae cancers is something I am so passionate about doing.

“If it helps just one person, then it is totally worth it! What better way to put a finger in the face of that awful time than to run a marathon.....better still why not challenge myself to a life goal of running all six world marathon majors.”

In 2023, she began her lifetime challenge by participating in the London Marathon.

Danielle, who was born in West Penbrookshire before moving to Bracknell, said: "I've always wanted to do something like this especially because my dad has always been a marathoner.

"When everything came back clear after my surgery, I wanted to do something as a way of saying thankyou."

As she readies herself to take on the 2024 Berlin Marathon on September 29, Danielle has expressed her excitement about participating in the world-famous race on its 50th anniversary.

The charity that she will be raising money for is the Eve Appeal – a leading UK national charity fundraising research and raising awareness into the five gynecological cancers.

Their focus is risk prevention, early detection, and developing screening for the various forms of rare cancers.

Danielle has started a crowdfunding page for people who wish to support her fundraiser and set a target of £1,000. If you wish to donate, click here.

Supporters have left messages of support on the Just Giving Page as Danielle gets ready to take on her toughest challenge yet.

Diane Bayley said: "Wishing you all the best of luck. I'll be with you in spirit every step of the way."

So far Danielle has raised over half of her overall target for the Berlin Marathon in September
