A Labour candidate has dismissed claims that the Green Party are on track to hold Brighton Pavilion at the next general election.
According to election forecaster Electoral Calculus, Green candidate Sian Berry is forecast to keep the party’s only seat in Parliament with a majority of around 14 per cent over Labour.
However, Labour’s candidate Tom Gray said that his party’s numbers “put this fight much, much tighter”.

Speaking to The Argus, he said: “We have begun canvassing right across the city and this polling looks nothing like the data we’re receiving from residents.
“Many want a change of government and have realised they need to vote with their feet to get it.
“Our numbers are within single digits. Important and heartening because - here’s the thing - we’ve only just got started.”
Labour is hopeful of winning the constituency from the Greens after success in the local election in Brighton and Hove last year.
Current Green MP Caroline Lucas is standing down at the next general election, which is expected to take place within the next nine months.
