The actor and comedian Ewen MacIntosh, who was known for his role of Keith Bishop on The Office has died at the age of 50, it has been reported.

JustRight Management confirmed his death in a statement shared on social media, saying: "With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved comedy genius Ewen MacIntosh.

"His family thank all who supported him, especially Willow Green Care Home."

Ewen's big break came with playing a supporting role on The Office, which was filmed in Slough, alongside the likes of Ricky Gervais and Martin Freeman, which saw huge success in the UK and abroad.

He also featured in a number of small roles across TV and film, including in The Lobster, Miranda, Little Britain, After Life and Smoking Guns.

Alongside that, he formed a double act with Tim FitzHigham and they performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2007.

Stars pay tribute to Ewen MacIntosh

Ricky Gervais was one of the first to pay tribute to Ewen, posting on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Extremely sad news. The very funny and very lovely Ewen Macintosh, known to many as 'Big Keith' from The Office, has passed away. An absolute original. RIP."

The Office podcast Out Of Office also shared a message, saying MacIntosh would "always be fondly remembered firstly as a great guy, but also as a key part of the greatest British sitcom of all time. An excellent legacy to leave. RIP."

Meanwhile, the comedy producer Gina Lyons wrote: "Heartbroken to hear a very special friend @ewenmacintosh has passed away. He was such an incredibly kind and funny person. Eternally loved."

The TV channel Gold also posted on its social media pages, saying: "We at GOLD are saddened to hear that Ewen MacIntosh has passed away at the age of 50.

"We loved him as Keith in The Office and were lucky enough to work with him over the years on the channel. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends at such a difficult time."
