A series of new buses have been launched on a route going through Wokingham.

In a bid to encourage more people to travel by bus, Reading Buses has launched eight new vehicles in a major investment in their fleet.

The new buses, which have numerous special features from coffee shop style flooring and tables, to glazed staircases and skylights, will be running on the Reading Buses lion 4 and X4 routes.

The company launched the buses in Market Place outside Wokingham Town Hall on Monday, February 12.

All the vehicles have USB, USB-C and wireless charging facilities, seatback phone holders, tables for working, tinted windows, and an air chill system upstairs.

Robert Williams, Reading Buses Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are thrilled to introduce these new buses to the lion routes – the first major investment in the lion since we started running it in 2015."

All single bus fares are currently capped at £2 by the government until 2025.

The lion service will run up to every 20 minutes along the key A329 corridor.
