A 'SHOOTING' that shattered the window of an Indian restaurant has left staff and diners in shock as the terrifying incident unfolded in Bracknell.

An evening meal was ruined for customers at the Sultan Balti House on Great Hollands Square after reports that a shot was fired through the front window on February 13.

It happened about 7:20pm, with images from the scene showing what appears to be a bullet hole in the window and glass sprayed across the seating area.

Bracknell Forest Mayor councillor Naheed Ejaz was contacted by the restaurant following the incident. She said: "There had been a shooting incident and someone had shot through their restaurant window.

"One waiter had a band-aid on his cheek from being cut by broken glass."

Cllr Ejaz added that the restaurant called the police but after two hours they did not show up.

Within the restaurant, a retired police officer and an off-duty Met Police officer dined and reportedly told Cllr Ejaz of their disappointment at the lack of police response.

She slammed the lack of police response and said it does not build confidence within the local community.

The mayor said Sultan Balti House has served the local community "wonderfully" over the past 40 years and the staff work "very hard".

Thames Valley Police confirmed they received a report of criminal damage in Great Hollands Square at 7:30pm last night.

A spokesperson for the force said: "An investigation into this is ongoing and we are keeping an open mind into the circumstances of the incident.

"Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or make a report online quoting reference 43240070730."

Sultan Balti House have been contacted for comment.
