Locals have been raising concerns about the amount of road closures that have been taking place in Wokingham, Winnersh, and Crowthorne recently.

In a post on social media, Tink Welch outlined her annoyance at the continuous road works in the area.

She said “Anyone else absolutely sick of living in Wokingham, Winnersh and Crowthorne due to all the road closures.

“I’m literally wasting so much fuel being sent around all the towns!”

Dozens of people took to the comment section of the post to share their annoyance regarding the road closures.

One person said “I think we are all sick and fed up, why can't they agree to carry out their contracts on different dates to minimise traffic.”

In agreement with the previous comment, another person said “I’ve lived in Wokingham all my life, sadly it’s changed so much.

“The traffic is getting worse, the parking prices have gone up, Wokingham only has coffee shops and restaurants to offer.

“We need the practical shops back like before, the post office is a complete disaster.”

A further person said “totally fed up with roadworks and when they are open you have to dodge numerous potholes.”

“Cannot wait for the 6-12 months of roadworks at California Crossroads to start.”

Numerous other accounts chimed in and shared the same sentiments as the previous comments.

One person wrote “Moved out of Wokingham a year ago after living there for 47 years, don’t miss the traffic there one bit. It’s ludicrous!”

Another person said “Try living in South Wokingham right now! Both railway crossings closed, half of Nine Mike Ride closed, and now another busy section of Nine Mile Ride shut from Monday.

“WBC has given my daughter-in-law an 11-mile diversion to get to the doctor's surgery which is less than half a mile away!

“I absolutely agree with you we are sick to death of it. The traffic is appalling. We feel marooned in our own home.”

A further person wrote “I’ve lived here for 50 years and discovering new parts daily. Every trip is like a mystery tour.”

Wokingham Borough Council has been contacted for a comment. This article will be updated as soon as they respond.
