A Berkshire Road which was re-opened over the festive period is set to close again for repairs in the new year.

Following multiple leaks in the gas networks, SGN decided to replace the old metal pipes with new plastic pipes in Nine Mile Ride and at the junction of Old Wokingham Road and Nine Mile Ride.

Due to severe delays and serious congestion in Bracknell and Wokingham in December, the company chose to re-open the road throughout the festive period after demands from the local community.

The road was reopened on Friday 15 December and will close again on Tuesday 2 January 2024.

From the beginning of 2024 (3/1), phase two will begin to replace the remainder of the network.

The gas company has announced that the repairs will be taking place in the carriageway between Old Wokingham Road and Palmer Close.

This will therefore affect two sections of the road including:

  • Nine Mile Ride Roundabout to The Nine Mile Ride/Lupin Ride footpath
  • The Nine Mile Ride/Lupin Ride footpath to Palmer Close (including Palmer Close)

SGN said: “To ensure the safety of everyone around our worksite, we will be closing Nine Mile Ride in phases around our work area where the pipe is being replaced.

“This work is expected to last until late May 2024.

“Thank you to the local community for their patience while we complete our work and sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.”
