Several developments took place across Bracknell in 2023 that have brought value to both the town and the people who live here.

From multiple new and exciting shop openings to the launch of Bracknell’s first Pride celebrations, the Bracknell News has been bringing all the juicy gossip from everything going on in The Lexicon and within the town.

The £240 million shopping complex built in 2017 started a journey in Bracknell that has seen many ups and downs through the years.

So…What is on the cards for The Lexicon in 2024? Many questions have circulated surrounding future developments, specific shop openings and events residents can expect this year.

We did some digging and found out that even more growth is being planned for 2024 after a record-breaking year for both sales and footfall.

Shops

In the years following the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, many units throughout Princess Square, Braccan Walk, and The Avenue stood empty for quite some time.

With an increasing population in Bracknell and growing footfall over the last 2 years, the complex was able to welcome a multitude of shops and restaurants to its portfolio.

According to Rob Morris, the general manager at The Lexicon, shoppers and residents can expect lots of exciting store openings in the new year.

Although the specifics are being kept under wraps for now, it sounds like it will be a mixture of restaurants, cafes, and shops which will add value to the already growing town centre.

In 2023 The Lexicon welcomed Sports Direct, Select, Quiz, Craft Coop, GoGo Gadget, Robert Dyas, and a host of other stores.

Events

With its strong relationship with Bracknell Forest Council, the Lexicon runs many exciting events throughout the year.

From its Christmas Market to the town’s first Bracknell Pride celebrations which happened over the Summer, it creates an excellent base for easily accessible fun.

The Lexicon has said that they will continue to provide more of these events to attract more and more families into the town.

Rob Morris, general manager at The Lexicon says:  “The Lexicon footfall grew 20% in 2023 when compared to the same period (nine months from January to October) in 2022.

“In 2024, we’d like to build on this growth in visitor numbers by continuing to offer an appealing mix of retail stores, cafés, restaurants and services.

"We expect to be able to announce several exciting new store openings in the first half of next year, to compliment the new arrivals during 2023.

“In addition, we will be creating a number of different events throughout the year, that we hope will encourage our existing customers to return more often and also attract new customers.

“The Lexicon has a reputation for providing a welcoming, safe and clean environment, which we will be looking to enhance even further throughout 2024.”
