Drivers across Bracknell Forest have been experiencing an uptick in the number of road closures and temporary lights this festive season.

From road resurfacing to gasworks and water leaks, circumstances have meant that more than one diversion route has been implemented.

In some cases commuters have reported that diversions and roadworks have caused their journey times to triple.

The Bracknell News has rounded up all the road closures and diversions that will take place this month.

Nine Mile Ride

Dates: December 4 – December 15

Following multiple leaks in the gas network, Southern Gas Networks will replace the old metal gas pipes with new plastic pipes in Nine Mile Ride and at the junction of Old Wokingham Road and Nine Mile Ride.

This work needs to be started urgently to ensure a safe and reliable gas supply and to minimise the risk of further leaks in the area.

The work will be carried out in two phases from Monday 4 December

A diversion has been put in place for the duration. The route is outlined below via the blue dash lines.

Heath Hill Road South

Dates: November 1 (10:58) – December 13 (23:59)

Old Wokingham Road

South East Water Road Closure - Burst Water Main

Diversion route put in place.

Bracknell News:

Bracknell Forest Council said: We are aware of the inconvenience caused to motorists around the Crowthorne and Old Wokingham Road areas today.

“Southern Gas Networks is undertaking critical gas pipe replacement work on Nine Mile Ride (on the borough's boundary with Wokingham) and this has caused some delays as traffic uses the signed diversion. However, this should ease as people use wider alternative routes.

“Separately, emergency work on Old Wokingham Road has been necessary to fix a burst water main. This work is being carried out by South East Water and the closure is expected to be in place until Friday (8 December).

“We recognise the impact this has had on some of our residents and urge drivers to avoid the area where possible.
