A suspected shoplifter has been charged after £7000 worth of M&S products were stolen in 40 reported incidents.

Officers from the Bracknell and Wokingham neighbourhood team announced that following many hours of ‘bounty hunting’ they used their skills to find and catch the man suspected of these crimes.

The 34-year-old was spotted and arrested on Tuesday, November 14 whilst sitting in a car at his home address.

PC McSweeney and PS Wong said on the force’s social media page that they took him to the Lodden Valley Police Station where he was taken into custody.

Outlining the situation on their Facebook page, the neighbourhood policing team said: “Now the real work began - reviewing, compiling and presenting evidence for over 40 offences is not a 5-minute task!

“Committed to the cause, the NH Team stayed on until 1 am gathering the evidence, then returned to work 8 hours later to finish the job.

“Persistence paid off, a 34-year-old male has been charged and remanded for multiple shopliftings.”

The alleged offender will reportedly appear in Reading Magistrates Court.
