Flash flooding forced a major road to close in Bracknell.

At 9am this morning (November 13) Bracknell Forest Council announced that the A322 Bagshot Road was closed southbound towards the M3 at the Coral Reef junction due to flash flooding.

A spokesperson for the council added: "We are currently working to get lane two open as soon as possible as the water is subsiding."

Heavy traffic was seen in the area, with motorists complaining about the busy roads.

Just after midday, Bracknell Forest Council issued an update stating Bagshot Road is fully open.

A council spokesperson explained: "Drainage in that area has an issue with tree roots, which are restricting the drain network.

"We have specialists scheduled to cut back the roots and free up the drains from blockages tomorrow – they have been scheduled for some time.

"Unfortunately, the prolonged rain and heavy leaf fall over night restricted the drainage even further and before we had chance to take action, which is why the road flooded. It would have been unsafe to keep the road open.

"We know this caused disruption this morning and apologise for the inconvenience."
