A MAN charged with fraud in Bracknell has avoided an arrest warrant despite failing to show up for his sentencing.

Abdirahman Abdi, 23, was due to be sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Friday (November 10) after pleading guilty to two counts of fraud.

On November 4, 2021 he was caught in possession of a fraudulent bank card in the name of another person and he used that card to buy a watch from Beaverbrooks Jewellers.

He was then charged with possession of an article for use in fraud and fraud by false representation.

Abdi last attended court on October 20 and has attended each court hearing prior.

The court heard that Abdi may not have been aware of the sentencing date.

Judge Emma Nott said: "Usually, I would issue a warrant not backed for bail but this is a defendant who has attended every time and has attended his appointments with probation.

"I don't think this is a case of him trying to evade justice."
