The Lexicon has been transformed into a thriving shopping centre in recent years, with the likes of Robert Dyas and Søstrene Grene recently joining the offering.

However, in the last few months, three stores have become empty, with little being said or done to them since.

Paperchase, Prezzo and Plush still stand with their branding and signage on show, with the interior of the shops appearing to have been ripped out.

Paperchase closed in February, with restaurant chain Prezzo following suit in May.

Plush later closed in the month after.

Other empty units stand within Princess Square, showing glimpses of a time when Argos and CEX had an offering in the centre.

On a visit to the shopping centre, we counted over ten units empty within the shopping centre.

An empty unit also stands empty on the corner of Princess Square with promises of Wimpy "coming soon", despite multiple pushbacks over the last few years.

A spokesperson for The Lexicon said: "All shopping destinations see changes in their store line-up and we are sorry that Plush and Paperchase have recently closed their stores.

"The Lexicon attracts a lot of interest from a range of national and international brands and we are always in discussion with potential new arrivals, and we expect to be able to announce more brands joining our line-up soon.”
