A Year 9 student has raised over £400 for charity following his sponsored 5km run around Thorpe Park.

Barny Walters, who attends Charters secondary school in Ascot, completed the charity 5km on Sunday, September 24 in memory of his aunt Paulet Kensey who passed away three months ago.

The money raised will go towards the Sam-Beare Hospice - a patient led charity that that offers palliative and end-of-life care for people who have advanced and life-limiting illnesses.

The school has congratulated him for demonstrating the school values of Unity, Respect and Excellence, as well as the Character Pillars of Motivation, Integrity, Confidence, Compassion, and Resilience.

Barny said, "I wanted to run for a cause that is close to my heart and Thorpe Park is one of my favorite places. I’ve always loved distance running so this has been a great opportunity for me to support the hospice and see behind the scenes of a great theme park."

Paulet's Room in the Hospice will be named after Barny's Aunty Paulet.
