An award-winning Bracknell pub, acclaimed for its high-quality real ale, has been featured in the 2024 CAMRA Good Beer Guide.

This comes as the UK’s best-selling beer and pub guide celebrates its 51st anniversary edition surveying 4,500 of the best pubs across the UK.

Published on Thursday, September 28, the Old Manor has gained a place in the book after local CAMRA members conducted regular visits to check the quality of the real ale and service.

Manager, Mike Daly, has expressed his delight at the news.

He said: “I am delighted that The Old Manor has been recognised for the quality of its real ales by CAMRA members.

“We offer our customers an excellent range of real ales at all times, including those from regional brewers and microbrewers, as well as hosting our own beer festivals.

“Staff at the pub work hard to ensure that the real ales on offer are kept in first-class condition at all times and the pub’s inclusion in the guide highlights this.”

Located on Grenville Place, the Wetherspoons pub is renowned for its excellent customer service.

A CAMRA spokesman said: “The Old Manor deserves its place in the Good Beer Guide 2024.

“It is our belief that if a licensee serves an excellent pint of real ale, then everything else in the pub, including customer service, quality of food and atmosphere, are likely to be of an equally high standard.”

The Good Beer Guide helps beer lovers take a barometer of the local beer scene, and this year’s Guide tells the story of an industry under threat, as although the Guide records 82 new breweries, 142 have closed.

This year’s Guide contains 910 newly featured pubs, which is a fantastic prospect for the pub trade which has been struggling to stay afloat in recent years following the pandemic and rising costs.

The 51st edition of CAMRA Good Beer Guide comes with a striking cover and foreward supplied by Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickenson.

CAMRA Chairman Nik Antona said: “We’re honoured to have Bruce Dickinson pen the foreword for The Good Beer Guide 2024. As we enter our second half century of producing the Guide, there is no one better to introduce this year’s edition, and highlight what makes these institutions so worth visiting.

“The last few years have been an incredibly difficult time for the industry, and we need more support than ever before to keep our nation’s pubs and breweries open and thriving. I’d encourage everyone to use this year’s Guide to visit the very best pubs and breweries across the UK and support them for generations to come.”
