A 15th Century mansion described as 'sophisticated' and 'refined' is on the market in Maidenhead.

Ockwells Manor, a Grade 1 listed home, has been called "the most refined and most sophisticated timber framed mansion in England", by art historian Sir Nikolas Pevsner.

The home was put on the market this week (August 18) with a £7,950,000 price tag.

The home has approximately 42 acres of land, including 20 stables, polo field, swimming pool and tennis court.

The manor is laid out over two floors and has various period features such as panelling and stained glass windows.

The main entrance has a large oak door which opens into a small internal courtyard. Around this are a number of "exceptionally fine" rooms including the Great Hall, living room and dining room.

On the first floor, the main bedroom has an en suite bathroom and dressing room with a minstrel’s gallery overlooking the Great Hall.

There are seven further bedrooms, four of which have en suite bathrooms.
