WOKINGHAM Festival has announced a full line up ahead of a weekend of live music and local performers.

Advance tickets are now on sale for the annual Wokingham Festival held in Cantley Park from Saturday, August 26 to Monday, August 28.

The bank holiday event will see more than 40 artists from across the borough and further afield, including original artists, tribute acts and cover bands performing a range of genres.

Wokingham Festival has announced it will have three returning MCs, Andy Jones of BBC Radio Berkshire, Andy Rowe of The Room, and Darren Redick from Planet Rock.

Artists announced include the headliners: prog rock legends Caravan, gonzo rock’n’rollers Tankus the Henge, soul and funk specialists Funkin’ Souled Out, plus Leoni Jane Kennedy, The Skangsters, Moonage - The Best of Bowie Tribute band, Vintage Sound Collective, The BJ Bevy, Kyros, Rocket Kings and more on the Festival's main Trademark Windows Stage.

A spokesperson from Wokingham Festival said the artists are “all of a high quality, so whatever your taste in music you should find something to delight your ears.”

The Wokingham Music Club stage, this year sponsored by Stowhill Estates, will showcase up-and-coming local talent, alongside artists from outside the area such as Sunday’s headliners Spacehopper.

Other artists include Rila’s Edge, Solar Culture, James Hollingsworth, Lilac, Who Ate All the Crayons and One Last Day, Catilin & The Mce-Boyz, and Purple Grace.

There will also be activities and food stands for all the family to enjoy.

The Beer Festival Bar, once again run by the Twyford Beer Festival crew, will stock a selection of specialist craft beers and ciders from local and national breweries.

Under-18s will need a ticket as advance tickets are on sale now, at 20% off gate prices.

The Wokingham Festival spokesperson added: “compared with other festivals with similar quality of artists, the ticket prices for Wokingham Festival remain excellent value.”

The Festival was set up more than 16 years ago by founder Stan Hetherington, who also runs the Wokingham Music Club and “it has built a solid and growing reputation over the years as a quality family-friendly festival run by the community for the community.”

Sound engineer Dean Nelson has taken the reins this year with a “talented team dedicated to continuing the Festival into the future”.
