AS THE Wimbledon tournament is well underway, Wokingham Tennis Club is celebrating its eight-year-old tennis star as he makes county team.
Rayarth Vinakar, 8, has made it into the Berkshire county tennis team after winning club competitions for many years.
Rayarth started playing tennis when he was around three years old by joining the Wokingham Tennis Club ‘mini tennis tots’ programme, which is aimed at three to five-year-olds.
The young tennis star “won so many tournaments and was beating people within the county squad” which got him noticed by county squad coaches.
He has since come third place at the county championships last year and is now playing for Berkshire and Wokingham in tournaments.
Head coach at Wokingham Tennis Club, Dane Marshall, said it is “so rewarding to see so many of our kids doing really well. I love to see the kids have fun and improve”.
Rayarth is Wokingham Tennis Club’s 8U club champion for 2022 and is hoping to win 8U and 9U club championships this year.
