A man has been jailed for a number of offences related to vehicle crime and theft in Wokingham.

Jordan Monks, aged 22, of no fixed abode, appeared in Reading Magistrates’ Court yesterday (July 5) to be sentenced.

Monks pleaded guilty to six counts of vehicle interference, three counts of shoplifting and one count each of theft from a motor vehicle and non-dwelling burglary.

On Monday, July 3, Monks was seen trying multiple vehicle door handles in the town overnight. He stole cash from one.

He also stole alcohol from Tesco in Finchampstead Road on June 24, Sainsbury's on Ashbridge Road on June 28 and 29 and from the BP garage on Finchampstead Road on Saturday, July 1.

Following a Thames Valley Police investigation, Monks was charged on Tuesday, July 4 and was sentenced a day later.

Detective Sergeant Jon Hare, of the Bracknell and Wokingham Priority Crime Team, said: “This conviction and sentencing demonstrates that Thames Valley Police takes theft offences seriously.

“I would encourage any victims to report such offences to police by calling 101 or via our website, or by calling 999 in an emergency or when a crime is ongoing.”

Monks has been sentenced to 12 weeks in prison.
