A Wokingham primary school is set to welcome an extra 42 children to their reception and year one class after major expansion work gets underway.

Located on Finchampstead Road, Evendons School was founded in 2014 and is the first STEM focused primary school in the area.

Pictures released by the Bellevue Place Education Trust show what the school will look like once the work has been completed.

This will widen the classrooms to accommodate 11% more children at the currently oversubscribed school which has been given an Outstanding rating by Ofsted.

With the additional pupils the school will stand with a total of 420 students.

Headteacher Stacey Read said that she is delighted that this expansion project has started.

“We are looking forward to the increased capacity and the improvement of the infrastructure,” she said.

“We want the best for the children and this expansion will help in offering more children the best facilities and education possible.”

Mark Greatrex, BPET Chief Executive, says: “Our focus always rests with the pupils and the breadth of opportunities we can offer them. Investing in the building means that we are investing in their future, by improving the facilities offered as well as the infrastructure they spend so much time in.

“This is the biggest financial investment we embarked on as a trust; we are immensely proud of Evendons’ fantastic work and reputation, and we’ll do all we can to support their growth.”

According to officials, the work is due to be completed by the next academic year starting in September 2023.

Wokingham Borough Council have said that they are fully supportive of this expansion which will bring many other opportunities to the school.
