RESIDENTS are being reassured that London Road roadworks will be paused from June 20 to June 25, ahead of Royal Ascot.

London Road, Bracknell, will be down to one lane due to “unavoidable utility work” until August 6.

Residents have shared their concerns about how traffic in Bracknell and Ascot will cope during Royal Ascot week.

Jill Callaghan, said: "I have just driven from Bracknell to Ascot through the roadworks and am speechless that this has been started Royal Ascot Week.

"Could it really not have been postponed for one week? Cityfibre are saying the work is "unavoidable" maybe if it was a gas leak it could be termed as such but to just add more internet providers is certainly not essential.

"Journeys for Ascot residents are bad enough this week but now they will be impossible for residents and race goers alike."

City Fibre, who are completing the works, are reassuring residents that the roadworks will be paused during the week of Royal Ascot (June 20 to June 25).

CityFibre’s partnership manager for Bracknell, Neil Madle, said: “All work will be paused on our £20m digital transformation project in Bracknell from Tuesday 20th June until Sunday 25th June, with Royal Ascot taking place. Work will commence again from Monday 26th June.”

City Fibre started work on the dual carriageway section of London Road, from the Met Office roundabout to the Running Horse roundabout.

The work continues from Running Horse roundabout to Fernbank Road junction in small sections, “to optimise traffic flow”, under 24-hour temporary traffic signals.
