MOTORISTS are being warned that a busy dual carriageway will have roadworks and lane closures until August.

London Road, Bracknell, will be down to one lane due to “unavoidable utility work” until August 6.

City Fibre will start work on Thursday, June 8, on the dual carriageway section from the Met Office roundabout to the Running Horse roundabout. The road will have lane closures in place.

The work will continue from Running Horse roundabout to Fernbank Road junction in small sections, “to optimise traffic flow”, under 24-hour temporary traffic signals.

This second phase is planned between June 13 and August 6, which will cause travel disruption for just less than two months.

According to Bracknell Forest Council, the work is “unavoidable”.

City Fibre will work weekends to minimise the impact and duration of work.

Bracknell Forest Council are reassuring residents that "the road will not be completely closed at any point" as 24-hour signals will be in place.

They will not operate during Royal Ascot week, June 20 – 24, when London Road will reopen.

The council added: “Further unavoidable work is planned by other organisations following City Fibre. We are continuing to work with them to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum and we will provide more details nearer the time.”

City Fibre have been contacted for a comment.
