Bracknell town centre has become a hive of activity with new restaurants and takeaways for every palette over the last year.

With more and more empty units being filled, diners have every opportunity to visit The Lexicon to sample any cuisine imaginable.

The one thing that is missing according to residents however is some form of entertainment that will prolong a visit into town and really create a great night out.

This may come in the form of a fun upbeat bar, a bowling alley or a nightclub to satisfy younger neighbours without travelling to Reading.

Amy Rebecca-Money brought up the idea after it was announced that the Thai restaurant Giggling Squid would be opening on Monday, July 3.

The enthusiastic reader said that some evening entertainment would ‘pull people in to eat at these places'.

She added: “Some live bands and shows. Brand new town and it's often dead in the evening which is a shame. I personally would love a nice wine bar with music too.”

During the introductory stage of Bracknell’s regeneration project in 2017, an area called ‘The Deck’ was proposed as a new leisure and shopping quarter.

With an initial opening date of 2022, no further developments have progressed due to a variety of factors halting the progress.

If this leisure and shopping quarter goes ahead in the future, The Botanist and Hollywood Bowl are expected to enhance the town’s nightlife.

According to some Bracknell readers who have frequented restaurants in the town centre, they have experienced restaurants that have ‘unsuccessfully’ attempted to create ambiance.

Hennamay Awood said: “I went to las iguanas. Couldn’t hear myself think or what my friend was saying Asked for music to be turned down or to be moved to a quiet table. Was told the management sets the volume and it can’t be touched.

“Told them they better get the management to eat there then as wasn’t going to eat anywhere I had to shout to be heard.”

Could introducing a wine bar or further night-time entertainment in the centre prevent restaurants from attempting to create a loud dining environment?

So, what do you think? Would the inclusion of entertainment in Bracknell Town Centre create a greater pull into town?
