A CROWTHORNE forest car park will be closed during refurbishment.

The open space car park at Buckler’s Forest will be partially closed from Monday, May 15, with full closure to follow.

The temporary closure will allow “major improvements” to be made to the car park surface, which is part of a two month improvement.

Via a social media post, Bracknell Forest Council, said: “This is necessary while we undertake major improvements to the car park surface. The wider open space will remain open to visitors on foot or bike. We apologise for any inconvenience this temporary closure causes.

The car park surface is being upgraded to tarmac which the Council say “will be much more accessible to visitors”.

Drainage and wildlife improvements are also being made.

Head of Natural Estates at Bracknell Forest Council, Stephen Chown, said: “We’re excited to work with the Land Trust to deliver these improvements for residents who enjoy visiting Buckler’s Forest.

“The new tarmac surfacing will hugely improve the accessibility of the car park for all residents, especially those with greater access needs. It will also reduce ongoing maintenance requirements to the car park, which means less potential future disruption for residents.

“The number of spaces will remain the same, and we have no plans to introduce car parking charges. It’s important to maintain free access for residents to enjoy this fantastic Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG).

“We thank residents and visitors to Buckler’s Forest for their patience in this matter."

As parking spaces will be limited or unavailable, people are advised to avoid visiting the area with a car.
