Additional secure bike lockers have been added to ensure fears of thefts are negated while the council push for greener transport.

Located in Wokingham Town's Carnival Hub, Wellington Road, the four new lockers have been installed following suggestions from residents.

It follows the installation of a number of bike lockers in Denmark Street car park back in November 2022.

Mayor Cllr. Maria Gee said: “A secure bike locker not only provides peace of mind for cyclists, but also encourages more people to bike to their destination by eliminating the worry of theft or damage to their bike.

"This additional location is ideal for users of the leisure centre and library."

The secure lockers will be managed and maintained by Spokesafe, which also provides an online booking system.

Cyclists will have to register in advance at spokesafe.app, and once registered cyclists can check availability & book a day pass for just £1 per day.

The lockers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week all year round.

Each booking provides a cyclist with access to a locker for a full calendar day, and access is only possible via a code found in the Spokesafe web app for maximum security.

The introduction of the bike lockers is part of the council's initiative "to encourage the life and vibrancy of Wokingham Town for its existing and future residents and businesses".
