WOKINGHAM is set to lose another clothing store as M&Co will shut its doors on Sunday.

The clothing retailer is closing all of its 170 stores around the UK, with thousands of jobs at risk.

The Scottish brand, previously known as Mackays, first got into trouble in 2020 when it collapsed. The firm appointed administrators for second time at the end of last year.

The Wokingham branch in Market Place will close permanently on Sunday, April 23. Other branches in Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire will also close.

In a statement, a company spokesman said: "The M&Co 'Brand' has been purchased, but unfortunately this does not include a future for our stores, website or staff.

"We hope you will appreciate this is also a very difficult time for staff working in the stores and we ask for respect and understanding when raising an issue."
