Several roads across Berkshire have been left impassable following torrential rain over the last 24 hours.

Two flood warnings and 23 flood alerts have been announced this weekend which are expected to affect travel across rural areas. This is due to the severe flood warning at Emm Brook in Wokingham and the flood alert at the River Lodden.

The Environment Agency has released a warning to drivers and home owners in the Woodley, Wokingham and Hurst area to take action against the weather and river conditions at Emm Brook.

Drivers travelling in Woodley last night found Sandy Lane completely impassable.

The Environment Agency said: “Please take action to protect yourself and your property and monitor local weather and river conditions. Avoid contact with, walking or driving through flood water. Consider activating any property flood protection products you may have.

“Environment Agency Flood Warning Officers set the river or tidal levels that have triggered this message. During industrial action this message has been automatically issued based on rising river or tidal levels.”
