50 cadets from Brakenhale School have completed a 800-mile walk and climb with the combined height of Britain’s three tallest peaks in just 24 hours.

The challenge was inspired by Barefoot Soldier Major Chris Brannigan’s 700-mile barefoot walk from Land’s End to Edinburgh, in full military kit.

On completion of the event at 10AM on Sunday, March 26, the Cadets of Brakenhale School CCF raised an incredible £3,680 which will help fund vital research aimed at the development of a gene therapy for children with CdLS.

The cadets had to complete a total of 3,200 laps of the Brakenhale School athletics track.

Major Chris Brannigan said: “The support we’ve received so far has been incredible, and we know can’t achieve the goal on our own - every penny is vital to raise the money needed to fund the research and, hopefully, a treatment for CdLS.

I’m incredibly grateful to the Cadets for giving up their time and having such courage to face this challenge – it’s certainly not easy and it was a real privilege to be able to join them for this event, it certainly is easy!
